One Breath Paintings: Be Present is an interactive art installation and ongoing art project by artist Filiz Soyak, which invites people of all ages and abilities to participate and connect in a mindful exercise creating art with their breath. It is inspired by and a continuation of her own work: Unu Spiro: One Breath Paintings.
Inspired by Zen-Buddhist mindful practices, grounded in meditation, and created using a simple action, people will be invited to create a one-breath painting using ink and paper. Participants will be encouraged to breathe deeply, let go of expectations, and be truly present in their creative action.
When complete, each one breath painting will be added to a collective installation. The result will be a evolving mural of #OneBreathPaintings created by individuals – but connected and unified, in their action, and breath. Debuting in Hudson this spring at Valley Variety May 25, and then continuing at the Take Care Fair in Hudson on June 30 , the vision is for the project to travel and grow into a movement of collective and creative mindfulness around the globe.
